BACK BOOK COVER:
Do they have a fighting chance at love?
After completing his sentence for the unintentional crime that derailed his youthful plans for fame and fortune, Levi Grant looks to start over in the town of Spencer, Texas. Spencer needs a blacksmith, a trade Levi leanred at his father's knee, and he needs a place where no one knows his past.
Eden Spencer has sworn off men, choosing instead to devote her time to the lending library she runs in the town her father founded. When a mountain-sized stranger walks through her door and asks to borrow a book, she's reluctant to trust him. Yet as the mysteries of the town's new blacksmith unfold, Eden discovers hidden depths in him that tempt her heart.
Eden believes she's finally found a man of honor and integrity. But when the truth about Levi's prodigal past comes to light, can this tarnished hero find a way to win back the librarian's affections?
About the Author:
Karen Witemeyer is a deacon's wife and mother of three who believes the
world needs more happily-ever-afters. To that end, she combines her love
of bygone eras with her passion for helping women mature in Christ to
craft historical romance novels that lift the spirit and nurture the
soul.
After growing up in California, Karen moved to Texas to attend Abilene Christian University where she earned bachelor and master's degrees in Psychology. It was also there that she met and married her own Texas hero. He roped her in good, for she has lived in Texas ever since. In fact, she fell so in love with this rugged land of sweeping sunsets and enduring pioneer spirit, that she incorporates it into the pages of her novels, setting her stories in the small towns of a state that burgeoned into greatness in the mid- to late1800s.

Thanks, Susan, for featuring Levi and Eden's story. I'm happy to chat about the book or writing or about anything else of interest. Send on the questions!
Karen and Suzie, what a nice giveaway of a fantastic book for the start of the New Year. I'll spread the word about the giveaway on FB twitter and of course, my giveaway blog. Blessings, ladies!
Kathy
I would love to read this book! It's been on my to-read list ever since it came out. I first read one of Karen's books almost two years ago: Head in the Clouds. I loved it. However, I didn't have the opportunity to read more until right after Christmas this year...Amazon had the Kindle version of Short-Straw Bride for free. Of course I snatched it up...SO good. I can't wait to read To Win Her Heart! :)
Whoops, forgot (as usual)to leave my email.
Also, I just started following...looks like a delightful blog, Susan! :)

Thanks for the kind comments, ladies. I love being among book lovers. Such good people. ;-)
And Charity - LOVE your profile pic. One of the most romantic couples ever.
Hi, Rebecca! Thanks for stopping by. It's a great read.
Susan and Karen,
I've had this book on my "to be read" list and it just jumped to the top.
I really like the characters names for this story. Karen, how do you pick characters' names?
Susan

No need to enter me. I've read To Win Her Heart and loved it! Loved Short Straw Bride even more!!!!!!! Can't wait for more books from you Karen.
Hi, Susan.
Great question! Names are important to me when starting a new book. I often use the Social Security website that catalogs popular names all the way back to 1880 when looking for good historical names. Of course, I also love biblical names as you can tell by my characters in this one - Levi and Eden. The name needs to sound right to my ear and needs to flow easily with the surname.
Hi, Christina. Thanks for popping by even without the contest. :-) Next book comes out in June. It's Crockett's story - Stealing the Preacher. I just couldn't let those Archer boys go yet.
I absolutely LOVE Karen Witemeyer's books! Thank you so much for the giveaway, this is the only one of hers that I don't own :)
bekaboobear(at)gmail(dot)com
Karen, it's probably a good thing you don't let them go. I'm sure there would be a lot of upset fans if you did. ;) June can't come fast enough. I love Crockett.
Susan, thank you for having karen on here for an interview. A very good one. Karen, I am glad you are for "happy for ever after"". Love that kind too, and I think Levi and Eden will be happy in the end. I also love that you love and live in Texas. I do too, next door to Houston. I am a follower. I would love to win your book.
Maxie mac262(at)me(dot)com
I absolutely adore Karen Witemeyer's books! They are some of my favorite books of all time! I cannot wait for Stealing the Preacher! My sister pre-ordered it as part of my Christmas present and I'm stoked! I also have to say that I love the new cover so much better! Karen's books always have such funny covers that the old one didn't fit-but this one is perfect! And now I'm going to stop rambling and gushing!

For you Archer fans out there, I'll let you in on another secret. Neill (the youngest of the clan) will be featured in a novella project that is scheduled to be out next January. I'm teaming up with Mary Connealy, Regina Jennings, and Carol Cox for a fun Texas anthology.
Jim and Cassie won't have their own book, but they do make several cameo appearances in the other books - happily married, of course. ;-)
And Abbi - I'm glad you like the new cover for Stealing the Preacher. I do, too. It kind of reminds me of Tailor-Made and To Win Her Heart.
Thanks for the warm reception, everyone!
This is the time era of books I love to read. I believe I have read one of Karen's books before and loved it. I do not recall the name of it, sorry. I would love to win a copy of her book "To Win Her Heart." Thank you for the opportunity and I hope to read more of Karen's books in the future.
God's Blessings!

Karen-I agree! It fits in so well with your other books! And I honestly squealed when I heard your novella was gonna be about Neill! I had heard about the collection and was already super excited-since I love all four of the authors but now I'm ecstatic!
Karen's books are the best! This was my favorite I think. If I win I would love to pass it along to my aunt.

Don't enter me for the drawing. I own this book (a few copies) and it is one of my all-time favorites EVER!!! I just wanted to stop by and say if you haven't read it yet and enjoy historical romance, you need to just go ahead and get a copy if you don't win it. And then you'll end up reading all the rest if you're new to Karen. Levi is still my favorite! =)
Ms. Karen is definitely one of my top authors that I just have to read! I would love to win a copy of this book for my own collection. Thank you for the giveaway!

Wow! I love all the chatting going on here. It's awesome!
Janet, Karen Lyons, Emily, Lori, Patty, Rubynreba, Kay, Nancy, Smanatha, Karen K, and Jasmine --- WELCOME, EVERYONE!
It's definitely the general consensus that if you haven't read any of Karen's books -- you need to. Pronto! She writes such wonderful stories. And if you have read her books, then you're definitely a fan.
This is such fun!
Karen W - I'm excited about Neill's story too! My daughter will be very excited as well.
Karen, I read Short Straw Bride and you became my favorite author. I would love to win this one.
godblessamerica.jan(at)gmail(dot)com
Jan,
Karen's writing is sort of like Lay's Potato Chips. You can't read just one!
For those young whipper-snappers out there.....
There was an old Lay's Potato Chips commercial that claimed.... You can't eat just one!
They're addictive and so are Karen's books!
I like the Lays potato chip analogy, Susan. Too fun!
I recently learned that the cover for Crockett' story, Stealing the Preacher, has been completely redone. I really like the way the second design turned out. If you want to see a side-by-side comparison between the two and vote on which one you like better, you can stop by my group blog, Petticoats & Pistols. http://petticoatsandpistols.com/2013/01/11/birth-of-a-cover-take-2/#comment-74314
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
This sounds like such a sweet story and one that I would really enjoy reading. Thanks for so much for the opportunity. There is so much craziness in the world that we need to read sweet, make you feel happy things.
Blessings,
Jo
