When Karenna’s life plans suddenly change after being jilted at the altar, she takes off driving with no destination in mind when she finds herself in a diner in Washington State and reading a magazine article about Treasure Creek, Alaska. She has no plans, no job, and no fiancé. Even her own mother blames her for her fiancé’s abandonment. Life certainly doesn’t seem fair. Treasure Creek sounds like a wonderful place – and the article says it just happens to be full of churchgoing bachelors with marriage on their minds. What does she have to lose? She’s already lost everything. Trying to escape her nightmare, she decides to head to Treasure Creek, hoping it might just become her dream come true. It ends up being a charming, beautiful community with caring, kind people – except for one bachelor, Gage Parker, who definitely does not have marriage on his mind.

When he drives upon a woman in a torn, muddy wedding dress kicking her car, Gage Parker thinks the worst. His conscious won’t let him leave her stranded. But when all his attempts to pawn her off on someone else fail, he is forced to take her to his home that he shares with his grandmother and his baby nephew. While he is less than pleased, his grandmother and nephew immediately connect with Karenna. Before he knows it, he’s offered Karenna the position of nanny to care for his nephew. She gets grandma to rest, gets Matthew to flourish, and gets under his skin. Will he be able to ignore the surfacing feelings that he thought he’d buried for good?

Despite the fact that he makes it abundantly clear that he’s not interested in a relationship -- he obviously doesn’t want to let anyone close again, not even his family -- Karenna finds herself drawn to him. She can see that he holds a tight rein on his emotions and he habitually wears a frown or scowl to prove it. But she sees past all that and knows there’s more to Gage than meets the eye. She finds herself falling in love with his nephew, grandmother, and the town. Can she keep herself from falling in love with Gage? Will she be able to break down the barriers he’s put up to keep the world at bay and find the man he used to be?

Once again, Jillian Hart has given us a sweet, love story that’s a joy to read. She shows us we can’t let past hurts and betrayals rob us of the blessings that God has in store for us. It’s easy to let love and hope vanish from our dreams and even our day-to-day existence – if we let it. Crawling inside ourselves and hiding from our feelings is not the answer. Listening to God and being willing to step out in faith, however, can heal even the most broken hearted. Thank you, Jillian. Your story entertains our minds and warms our hearts.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Jill grew up on her family's homestead on Washington state, near Carnation, Washington, where she raised cattle to pay for her college tuition, rode horses through the pristine foothills of the Cascade Mountain range and scribbled stories in her spare time.

After earning an English degree from Whitman College (what better way to go through college than to constantly read books?), she traveled, worked in advertising, taught Sunday school and volunteered before becoming a writer.

When she's not hard at work on her next story, Jill can be found chatting with a friend, stopping for a café mocha with a book in hand, and spending quiet evenings at home with her family.

Hannah believes that divine providence landed her with her own dress shop in a new town. She’s the only dressmaker in town, but she is shocked when the livery man has such disdain for women’s fashions and sometimes, it seems, her personally. One moment he deals out unfair judgment and assumptions with a growl, and the next he shows her unexpected kindness. Which is the real J.T.? And what is his problem with dressmakers and a girl wanting to look pretty? His arrogance riles her. She finds herself trying to rile him right back.

J.T. aims to steer clear of the new dressmaker. They’re all alike in his mind – confusing fashion with true beauty. However, Hanna Richards confounds him. She doesn’t seem like your normal fashion-obsessed dressmaker. She’s beautiful on the outside, but not what he expected on the inside. She’s gotten under his skin and he’s not sure what to do about it.

In fact, he’s kept his sister away from the trap of fashion for a long time, but when the new dressmaker befriends his sister, that all changes. And he doesn’t like it one bit. What will happen when his sister tries to catch a beau with Hannah’s help? Sparks fly all right – and lead to consequences no one could have imagined. Will Hannah and J.T. be able to close the chasm between them?

Things are not always what they seem. We must search the Scriptures for our answers to our questions and dilemmas and seek God’s answers in our prayers. Do not be quick to judge. We must be open to God’s leading as he may have a surprise or two in store for us. He certainly did for J.T. and Hannah, not to mention his sister. Bumps and potholes may get in the way, but God can work all things together for good for those in Christ Jesus.

This is the first book I’ve read by Karen Witemeyer, but she’s on my must read list now. This book was wonderful and I absolutely loved it! I even had some laugh out loud moments. Karen has a way with words that shows her characters speaking intimately with God in such a genuine and touching way. This story had many facets and all of them were woven in wonderfully. The lessons in this book are intertwined beautifully with the entertaining story, making it a delightful read. I didn’t want to put it down. My teenage daughter saw how much I was enjoying the book and she now can’t wait to read it as well. Congratulations, Karen, on a wonderful book!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Karen Witemeyer is a deacon's wife and mother of three who believes the world needs more happily-ever-afters. To that end, she combines her love of bygone eras with her passion for helping women mature in Christ to craft historical romance novels that lift the spirit and nurture the soul.

After growing up in California, Karen moved to Texas to attend Abilene Christian University where she earned bachelor and master's degrees in Psychology. It was also there that she met and married her own Texas hero. He roped her in good, for she has lived in Texas ever since. In fact, she fell so in love with this rugged land of sweeping sunsets and enduring pioneer spirit, that she incorporates it into the pages of her novels, setting her stories in the small towns of a state that burgeoned into greatness in the mid- to late1800s.

In January, 2009, Karen signed a contract with Bethany House Publishers for three inspirational historical romance novels, and she is thrilled to announce that her first book, A TAILOR-MADE BRIDE will be released in June 2010.

Karen enjoys hearing from her readers. You may contact her or learn more about her and her books at her website http://www.karenwitemeyer/.

She broke his heart several years ago when she left town seeking bigger and better things. Experience told Justin he wasn’t good enough. He wasn’t looking for any relationship or to rekindle any feelings from the past, but he still didn’t like what he saw. And what he saw was Rori Cornell, his old high school sweetheart, walking down the street, looking better than ever. If that wasn’t bad enough, she showed up at his family’s ranch to interview for the cook and housekeeper position. He was not happy. But he could tell she’d fallen on hard times and his conscious wouldn’t let him turn her away when he knew she needed a job. A man has to eat, but he was keeping his distance. He’d worked hard to put a protective shell around his heart and he wasn’t letting anything or anyone crack it. He’d just have to ignore the fact that his heart was disagreeing with his head.

Rori was captivated once again by Justin, despite her feelings of failure and distrust with men. It didn’t matter though. Justin was clear he aimed to steer clear of her. And no matter what her heart was telling her, no man was worth trusting again. She’d made mistakes all right, but she was smarter now and things were going to be different from here on out. It felt good to be home for the summer. Her love of music and teaching brought her pleasure, but the love of being home brought her peace. Was it possible to have both?

They once had a love that never meant to hurt. But that was exactly what they’d done to one another. Can misunderstandings be overcome in order to move beyond the pain their decisions have caused? Can they seek God’s plan in order to get beyond the past, accept the present, and look forward to the future?

Jillian led us to the Granger family ranch and welcomed us as part of their family, as we lived right alongside them with her description of ranch life. Lessons of true love, pride, and misunderstandings are woven through this inspirational romance. Not all lessons are easily learned. Jillian shows how God works to bring people around to the truth and back to true love despite their stubbornness. Trusting in God’s plan -- despite our hurt, lack of trust, and overwhelming fears, -- is always best. It’s only through God’s promises that we can make promises of our own.

I enjoyed reading this sweet, sweet love story. And I can’t wait to read more of the stories about the Granger family where ranch life, love of God, and stubbornness are all bound to collide giving us more wonderful love stories. Congratulations, Jillian,on yet another winner! I can’t wait for another mini-vacation into Wyoming with your next book in this series.

Hector Rodriguez is a dedicated man of God who is the pastor on the outskirts of Tijuana, Mexico. His very small church nestles in this touristy border town where crime and gangs are running rampant. Hector not only tries to minister to his little flock, but takes many trips deep into Mexico delivering Bibles into hostile Mayan areas. On one such trip, his mother accompanies him into the village of San Juan Chamula and feels called to stay to serve. Using the Scriptures, she teaches reading to people who are willing to learn. Although she feels peace with her decision, Hector is more than concerned. Evil and darkness are prevalent in the village and outsiders are not welcome. His worry is founded when one day she disappears. His faith is shaken to its very core. Can he continue to pastor and give counsel to his parishioners when he doubts and questions his own faith? How can he give sound advice to others when he can’t believe it himself? What will happen in his neighborhood as one of their own is sucked into the gang world of hatred and evil?

Hector’s friend, Marty, comes to stay with him and his family seeking God’s will for his future. How will Hector take the news of what God has ordained for Marty and his soon-to-be future bride?

Through all the trials and turmoil, will God’s message penetrate Hector’s hardened heart? Will he be able to make peace with the past and accept God’s plan for the future? The future that is in God’s hands and not his own?

I loved this book! I literally traveled to Mexico, walked the street on the outskirts of Tijuana with the characters in this book. It was as if I prayed with them. I felt their despair and joy. I met these people, and quite frankly, I want to spend more time with them. The characters were so well introduced and interesting that more books could be shared about this community. I’d love to visit again to live more in the lives of these people.

Kathi is an amazing story-teller with the written word. Her heart, love for the Lord, and devotion to prayer is evident. She glorifies God, while at the same time shows the humanness of those strong in faith. This book is about life and death, love and hate, light and darkness, doubt and obedience, and hope and faith. She shows people living out their faith in circumstances that make it difficult. There was a lot going on in this book, but it all blended together marvelously. Kathi’s writing is a ministry. Congratulations, Kathi. My heart was touched by your story-telling and love of God through the marvelous gift of which he has blessed you.

------
No Greater Love was the first book I’ve read by Kathi Macias. Wow! This book had it all – romance, danger, suspense, and sacrifices made in the name of love for reasons in which many of us would be unfamiliar. It took twists and turns that I did not see coming. It kept me in suspense throughout the entire book. Gripping tale!

No Greater Love is part of her Extreme Devotion Series. Well named, I must say. Her publisher describes it as fiction with a mission and I would agree. Facing persecution for one’s faith is demonstrated in this book in ways that many in the United States could not begin to fathom. This book was loosely based on historical events, set in South Africa, in approximately 1989, in the midst of the upheaval prior to Nelson Mandela’s release from prison in 1990. New insight was given to me about this time and its events in South Africa.

I never thought I’d be intrigued and drawn into a danger/suspense type novel. I was wrong. I was hooked from the moment I turned the first page. This book brought forth so many emotions. It was sad, but joyous. It was believable, yet contained shocking events. I’ve not read a book such as this in the Christian market. I would call this story edgy and I mean that in the most complimentary way. Her stories need to be told. Missionaries experience things that many probably have no clue about, including me. If anyone ever tells you that Christian fiction can’t be edgy, contain violence, show revenge and hatred, yet still contain the message of God’s love, the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, and spread the gospel through fiction – they’d be wrong in my humble opinion. And they need to read this book. We are all sinners saved by grace. Some of us have more horrific and tragic events in our lives than others. But we all need the saving grace of Jesus Christ. This story contains grace, mercy, and redemption in ways that need to be shared.

Kathi has an extraordinary talent in telling a story to make it come alive. I’ll be watching for more of her books to add to my reading list. Congratulations, Kathi. Well done, indeed!
